The Combo Proximity Warning and Alert System merges Tag and Non-Tag PWAS technologies into a single, adaptable solution. It delivers comprehensive accident prevention by addressing both Vehicle-to-Individual and Vehicle-to-Vehicle scenarios, as well as detecting objects to prevent backover accidents. The tag features a vibration alert to inform the wearer when equipment is approaching and when they enter a danger zone. The system also includes event and hazard recording capabilities to support risk assessment and incident investigation.
The PWAS control unit is positioned next to the heavy equipment operator inside the vehicle. It activates an alarm when detecting personnel or objects approaching the hazard zone, alerting the operator to potential risks. The system includes tag detection, which identifies personnel carrying tags as they enter hazardous areas. Each tag features a vibration alert to notify the wearer if equipment is approaching or if they are in a danger zone. Additionally, the control unit records events and hazards, providing valuable data for evaluating and managing worksite safety.
The PWAS sensor is installed on the rear of the vehicle, creating an extensive detection zone that identifies personnel and objects. The standard detection range is set to eight meters, with the flexibility to be adjusted based on the specific requirements of the site.
The PWAS control unit is positioned next to the operator within the vehicle. It activates an alarm upon detecting a tag, notifying the operator when a tagged individual is approaching the hazard zone. The system’s built-in antenna provides 360-degree detection around the vehicle and can recognize PWAS tags from up to 15 meters away. Each tag is equipped with a vibration feature that alerts the wearer if the equipment is approaching or if they are in a danger zone. Additionally, the control unit includes event and hazard recording capabilities, which aid in risk assessment and enhance overall workplace safety.
Backover accidents are often attributed to limited operator visibility. To address this issue, the Proximity Zone is established to define a specific hazard area where objects can be detected. By default, the Proximity Zone provides coverage of approximately 180 degrees with an 8-meter range. The PWAS Control Unit is designed to detect tags within a range of 7 to 15 meters, with the flexibility to adjust this range according to specific site safety requirements. Additionally, the system can recognize up to 50 tags simultaneously within the proximity zone, thereby enhancing safety around the machinery.
Integrating the PWAS Camera and Monitor with the PWAS enhances operator confidence by improving visibility of personnel and property in the machinery's blind spots. Cameras are installed at both the front and rear of the machinery, while the monitor is situated in the cab to provide clear visual feedback and alerts. Additional cameras can be added as needed to meet specific site requirements.
